Frequently Asked Questions About OzoneGuard™
1. What is the OzoneGuard™? OzoneGuard is Sharper
Image's name for PremAir® catalytic coatings from Engelhard Corporation. PremAir
represents a revolutionary new approach to reducing ground-level ozone (the main
component of smog) by instantly changing airborne ozone into oxygen on contact.

Who is Englehard Corporation? Engelhard Corporation is a Fortune 500 company
that has been a pioneer in clean-air technology for more than 30 years. They invented
the modern three-way catalytic converter now in use on most of the world's automobiles,
and Engelhard continues to develop new pollution-abatement technologies for a
broadening array of applications and markets. (top) 3.
Are Ionic Breeze air cleaners safe to use without Ozoneguard? Yes. All
Ionic Breeze air purifiers (with or without OzoneGuard) comply with U.S. safety
requirements for ultra-low ozone by-product for electrostatic air cleaners; in
fact, they even meet the strict standards (50 parts per billion or lower) established
for indoor medical devices. (top) 4.
Do other air cleaners have OzoneGuard? No. Only Ionic Breeze air purifiers
are licensed by Engelhard to use PremAir technology for ground-level ozone abatement.
OzoneGuard represents Sharper Image's exclusive first use of PremAir technology
in any portable room air cleaner. (top) 5.
Where is the OzoneGuard catalyst on the product? OzoneGuard is built into
the inside of the removable front grill of both the Professional Series Ionic
Breeze Quadra and Ionic Breeze GP. There you'll see an aluminum honeycomb grid
with the PremAir's catalyst. This patented catalyst is the OzoneGuard that instantly
converts ozone (O3) molecules into oxygen (O2) molecules on contact. (top) 6.
What does the OzoneGuard do? With this OzoneGuard grid in place, a meaningful
portion of ground-level ozone that enters the unit (plus trace levels of ozone
by-product inside) is converted into oxygen before the cleaned air circulates
back into the room. (top) 7.
Why is the OzoneGuard smaller than the grill itself? The majority of the
air output is directed toward the center of the grill and therefore a larger OzoneGuard
isn't necessary. (top) 8.
Does the OzoneGuard need to be cleaned? Over time, the OzoneGuard honeycomb
grid may accumulate some dust and dirt. When you see this, it can easily be rinsed
off under running water while still attached to the removable front grill. Allow
the OzoneGuard grid to air dry before putting the front grill back in place.

How often should the OzoneGuard be cleaned? In most cases, cleaning the
OzoneGuard will be needed only after several months of operation. In contrast,
the Ionic Breeze collection blades should be wiped clean every one or two weeks.

Does the Professional Series still have the Negative-Ion Feature option?
Yes it does. The new OzoneGuard front grill does not affect the popular Negative-Ion
Feature of the Professional Series Ionic Breeze air purifiers. An emitter at the
bottom of the new grill has replaced the ionizing wires inside the original grill.
The feature itself works the same way as before. (top) Click
